History

of China Australia Food Security Cooperation Initiative (CAFSCI)

The China Australia Food Security Cooperation Initiative (CAFSCI) seeks to conduct an audit of bilateral engagement between Australia and China in the area of food security, focusing on cooperation in research and development over the past 40 years. The information gathered in this review will seek to:

  • Understand the past and current bilateral activity in this important area;
  • Provide an accessible and clear forum to showcase and understand Australian and Chinese agribusiness technologies suitable for commercialisation or licensing;
  • Foster the development of a network of organisations in order to provide a platform for deeper engagement; and
  • Deepen and develop linkages between public research and industry in food security-related areas.

The China Australia Food Security Cooperation Initiative is coordinated by the Australia China Business Council in conjunction with the Australian Government and Chinese partners. CAFSCI is an outcome of the Joint Australia–China Report on Strengthening Investment and Technological Cooperation in Agriculture to Enhance Food Security.
